Renee, Kristie and I went to Minneapolis for the CMT tour concert on Saturday the 13th. We saw Jake Owen, Little Big Town and Sugarland. Kristie's birthday was on the 14th so Renee and I gave her the ticket to the concert as her bday gift. It was a nice trip....the weather was great. We stayed at the Millennium Hotel which was about a mile from the Target Center. After the concert we took our time and walked back to the hotel.

There was a fund raiser for Hixon Forest at Copeland Park. Andrea, Kristie, Loren and I went to watch the bands. The second band that performed was the Dweebs. They are a good variety band. We enjoyed listening to them. They are going to be at the Oktoberfest which will be coming up soon.

I went to Central to watch Matthew's first football game of the season. They played Eau Claire and won the game 33 - 7. I wasn't sure which one was Matthew.....didn't know what his number was, so I just took a few pictures of the team in general. I was surprised when I found out that he is in at least 3 or 4 of these pictures.

Baseball is finished for the season. Soon football season will be starting. I took a lot of pictures during the season.

August 17 ~ I had a visitor today....first time this year. Actually he has been around here for a couple of days but couldn't get a picture of him until today. For a small bird, they sure are noisy. And, it really makes the cats curious as to what all the noise is. Here's the noisy woodpecker.
Shortly after he left, I went out the back door and saw this guy sitting on my neighbors steps. I never see squirrels by my house.

Renee and I went to Brussels, WI to see Keith Anderson. Jamie O'Neil was there too. Brussels is a small town that has a festival in the town park. We heard that Keith was going to be there so we had to go check it out. We stayed overnight in Green Bay and drove back to Sun Prairie the next day. There wasn't anything going on in that area so I drove back to LaCrosse the same day.
Krista had planned on driving to Milwaukee on Sunday to keep Ryan company while waiting for his plane. Ryan joined the Marines and had to fly out of Milwaukee. So, I rode along with Krista to keep her company and make sure that she made it safely. We stopped in Sun Prairie to pick up Renee and she drove from there.
Milwaukee had so much construction going on downtown that I think Krista would have had a big problem driving around there. It wasn't easy for Renee. Renee's birthday was coming up on Tuesday, August 14 so we had a very small party that night.....I guess you can call it a party. She opened her gifts anyway.

August 3 ~ Kristie had to go to St Paul to the university so I rode along to keep her company. We had everything mapped out to the different places that we needed to go to. We only made one mistake. We couldn't understand why the traffic was so bad on a Sunday afternoon going from St. Paul to Minneapolis. We found out when we found ourselves in front of the metrodome. There was a Twins game. Then on the way back to St. Paul, we just happened to drive by the bridge that collapsed earlier in the week. That wasn't part of our plans. We were lost and just trying to find our way back to the interstate.

I finally got to use the Christmas present that Kristie and Renee gave me. It was a ticket to go to Country Thunder with them. This was a five day concert from July 18 through July 22. It was quite an experience. Not only was it the first time for Country Thunder, but it was also my first time camping and roughing it. After hearing their stories about last year when they went about the rain and the mud, I had tried to prepare myself for anything. But, we didn't have any problems.
It did rain the first night we were there and had to sit in the rain only for one show. It wasn't real bad, just a light but steady rain for a couple of hours. We were prepared and had rain ponchos with us. As soon as the show was over, it quit. And, seeing as it has been so dry lately anyway, it dried up pretty fast. We did have a couple of pretty cool nights to be out in.
We saw too many performers to mention. It was a fun time and I can say that I'm a survivor. I kept up to the girls pretty good.
This is a picture of me, Renee and Kristie relaxing in the giant Leinie lounger.
I was really disappointed that my night pictures did not turn out, but I got a lot of daytime shots. If you would like to see them, here is my slideshow.
I made a separate slideshow of Keith Anderson. Renee and I got to meet Keith before the show so our pictures with Keith are also on the slideshow..
Then I got creative and used those same pictures and put music to them.

Renee, Kristie and I went to Summerfest in Milwaukee this weekend. We planned on seeing Sugarland on Friday night and Sara Evans on Saturday night. Well....we did go Friday and we did hear Sugarland, but that was the best we could do. There were benches set up for people that could get the closest and picnic tables behind them. Thanks to the inconsiderate people that were in the last row of benches and were standing on the benches pretty much made it impossible for anybody to see past them.
At one point we were in that row behind the benches but knew we wouldn't be able to see anything there. We did expect people to stand as they always do at concerts but most stand on the ground not on their seats. We didn't bother going back Saturday night. It didn't seem worth it to just listen and not see anything. Think we better stick to the shows that are in the Marcus Amphitheatre and have reserved seating plus security for supervision. These shows were on the free side stages.

A friend of ours found out that she couldn't use the tickets that she had won to Country Fest in Cadott, WI. So, Kristie and I took advantage and used the tickets. I was going to put the adventures of our trip on here, but it was so long that I decided not to. We had a few problems getting there....kept getting lost.
Keith Anderson was on first. We had to sit pretty far away and with the people standing in the front rows I didn't even try to take a picture. For Blaine Larson we were sitting as far away as possible but had nobody in front of us, so I did attempt to take a couple of pictures. Then, when Little Big Town came on, we had found a better place to sit so that we were closer but I had a lot of people to work around for a picture. I did get some of them, though. I only took a couple of Craig Morgan and it was getting dark so they didn't really turn out good.
Here's a slideshow of the pictures that I took while there.
